American singer-songwriter NOAH KAHAN is kicking off a new era — THE GREAT DIVIDE. While he shares reflections about the gaps or divisive events in his life, the “Everywhere, Everything” singer dives right back to healing, pondering on the emotional distance that grew between where we are now, and who we once were. Sharing the title track ahead of the album’s full release this April, it’s actually a previously-unreleased song which he’s played at live shows since 2024. It’s THE GREAT DIVIDE. Noah Kahan’s new album, coming out this April. While we wait for the full record, we finally have a taste of the “Everywhere, Everything” singer’s new era as he officially released his forthcoming album’s title track. “The Great Divide” was a previously-unreleased track which he started performing in live shows in 2024, and was pretty much a favorite secret among fans. Now that it’s marked a new chapter in Kahan’s musical career, buckle up for an emotional ride as the man take you through the gaps and divisive moments in life — relatable and striking as he shares all the emotions attached with dealing with who we once were and who we are now.
Teasing the record for months on social media, Kahan stirred up much excitement from fans through a TikTok account “thelastofthebugs.” Puzzling the pieces together, while a short clip captioned “you weren't supposed to find this... only the last of the bugs ever do,” fans were quick to notice that this was a reference to another song “The View Between Villages.” In January 2026, he officially announced the release of “The Great Divide,” an album he said that was written “next to a piano in Nashville, next to a pond in Guilford Vermont, in a legendary studio in upstate New York, on a farm with a firetower in Only, Tennessee.”
“Noah Kahan implies the ‘great divide’ refers to the feeling of simultaneous physical closeness and mental isolation that emerges from a gap in understanding of another person’s internal struggles,” a review from The Bucknellian shared about the lead track.
Coming a long way since he started writing songs at the age of 8, his heart for music remains the same — rooted in the way he feels about the world around him, weaving it all together through beautiful folk tunes.
“The songs are the words I would say if I could,” Kahan shared through his Instagram account. “The music here is my best attempt to delve deeper into the people, places, and feelings that have made me who I am.”
